This is my first time to participate in the Cyberfair project. It was a long process, from learning about Cyberfair at the beginning, to completing the web pages. We held several meetings before agreeing on the topic of "Shidong Market". We then began our research. We also decided to choose Arduino and IoT. Through hard work and joint effort, we finally finished the project.I think it is fun to do the Cyberfair project with everyone and work together. I've learned a lot of new knowledge and computer technology in this process.

This experience of doing Cyberfair project allowed me to a lot about the Shidong Market planning, as well as the current situation and historical features, such as: air conditioning in the market for a comfortable shopping trip, clean stalls for customers to buy health food. I also used many programs and artificial intelligence, which are all very interesting! We hope that we win the platinum award. Next time I will apply to join the Cyberfair project, and have a good time with my team together! Thank you!

This is my first time to join the Cyberfair project, and I have never done it before, I know that Cyberfair is a very important competition, which can put school honor and personal honor at stake. The competition is very complex, including webpage making, information collection, code writing, all of which I do not come across that often. But I did not give up. Step by step, I work together with other students. As the saying goes like unity is strength, I believe that as long as we work hard and don't give up, we can get ideal good grades.

The first time I heard about Cyberfair in class and learnt that it is an international competition, I hesitated for a long time to make the decision whether to join. I finally decided to go for it. During the first two morning meetings, I found that I could learn new knowledge which is not taught in my regular class. I also learned that the work calls for the cooperation of all team members which may take as long as several months.

I have always been very interested in computer, so I decided to participate in the Cyberfair project. In the process, in addition to enhance my computer ability, I also learn to the importance of tacit understanding in a team, the fun of making and editing web pages. I love Cyberfair very much. At the same time, I also thank the teachers and hope to have the opportunity to participate in the Cyberfair project in the future.

I am very happy to join the Cyberfair project. When I entered the member selection, I was very nervous, because I really want to be a part of it. Although I know six graders had the priorities to join the team, I was still worried that I could not meet the requirement. When I found out that I was selected, I was really happy. Although the project only went on for several months, I cherished the time spent with the team members. My part of work is the interviews and information collection. I believe that I have done well.

I’m honored to be a part of the Cyberfair project. From the very start of knowing this competition to this final point of finishing our webpage, I felt it was a way forward step by step. Although it was only a few months, but I benefited greatly. Besides learning the webpage production and other computer skills, I also learnt the way of communication. I would like to thank my teacher Chih-chieh Chan, who select me to participate in this project. My thanks also go to my teacher Li-wei Sung and several other members. Thank you for letting me grow and improve, and I hope our efforts will yield positive results.

When I entered the computer classroom for the interview of the Cyberfair project, I was at a lost, without any idea about what I would learn here. When I learned that I was selected for the project, my heart was full of joy, surprise, excitement and anticipation. Later in the research process, there were sometimes debates, and occasional failures. Having experienced all those setbacks with other students, we learnt mutual cooperation, and cultivated deep affection toward each other. Besides, we looked up for data, designed questions, and conducted interviews and finished web page together. We have experienced a lot of difficulties, and paid a lot of efforts. We believed that when results came out it would be worthwhile. I consider this a rare experience for my primary school with abundant harvest.

This decision took me a while and then I made up my mind to come and take challenge in the Cyberfair project. Though the schedule for meetings which was set on Monday noon and Thursday morning was not so convenient, yet after some discussions, it turned out to be far better than expected. I became more enjoyable during the cooperation with others during the tasks. Within this short period, I gained a lot by learning more things than other students, and trying new computer equipment which my peers usually do not have a chance to. I really hope for a good result of this participation.

(2) Project Overview

Category: Businesses and Organizations
Description of Our Community:
Shidong Market was officially opened on October 4, 1992 and has a total of 255 stalls, two floors and more than 20 years’ history so far. It is provided with the environmental protection and energy saving measures like solar panels, LED lamps, etc. Under the leadership of Mrs. Kui-chao Hsu, the self-governing committee’s president, Shidong Market is changing with each passing day, having changed from the ordinary and slightly messy traditional market in the beginning into a clean and hygienic traditional market and the pioneer of traditional market development. Shidong Market also held the “Good Relationship” project in May 2016 to conduct a big reconstruction for the market to provide reconstruction design for some vendors, letting them to have a strong artistic and brisk touch. Its self-governing committee hopes to create a modernized new market to reverse the citizens’ stereotyped dirty, messy and unhygienic image on the traditional market. The changing of Shidong Market would become a benchmark to be followed by the future traditional market, which is also an important step made by the traditional market towards the “modernization”.

Summary of Our Project:
The stereotyped images of many people on the traditional market are messy vendors, garbage littered everywhere and inconvenient undesirable odor. These have become the established impression of the traditional market in Taiwan hard to get rid of even in the high-tech metropolises. However, our Cyberfair project of this time, the Shidong Market located in the Tianmu business area, has converted 19 vendors into the stall fronts full of the sense of design after the perfect finishing touch of reconstruction by the design team of the “Good Relationship”, giving a new look to Shidong Market as well. The “Good Relationship” has connected the traditional market with the “beauty”, improved the environmental hygiene, increased the quality and added beauty to the market in a hope to create a world-class traditional market. In order to bring Shidong Market to a higher level, our team of Sanyu Elementary School hopes to combine Shidong Market with new technologies to improve its air quality and reduce the contaminants through the new technologies like Arduino and IoT so that Shidong Market could have further development and become not only a traditional market full of human touches, but also a modernized traditional market.

Our Computer and Internet Access:
The school’s network is provided by the Ministry of Education, the environment is not bad as a whole and the teachers can also help us to solve the problem.
Problems We Had To Overcome:
Shidong Market has already been a very high-class traditional market in Taiwan, environmentally friendly and having a comfortable space. It was really not easy for us to come up with the places for improvement. The school teachers happened to mention about all sorts of smells mixed in the air of the traditional market. So maybe we could go there to feel the local air actually and combine the recently very popular Internet of Things and the Arduino we have experienced at our computer class to make some decisions faster than humans, such as disaster prevention and emergency starting of the air-conditioning and other systems in the case of too high temperature and humidity.

Our Project Sound Bite:
Although Shidong Market is located near the Sanyu Elementary School and we have all been there, we have never expectedly that we could also utilize the technology to have a different experience. Through this study, we all have had a better understanding on how to use computers to create some interesting experiments. Although the process is hard, it is very meaningful.

What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
1. Telephone and E-mail: contact the president of Shidong Market via telephone.
2. Digital camcorder and camera: make films and take photos for records during the visits.
3. Gas detection equipment: Arduino, MQ-135, MQ-9, DHT11, Wemos D1, ESP8266, etc.
4. Recorder pen: used for interview recording and putting the contents into transcripts.
5. Computer Software:
Photocap/Dreamweaver/movie maker/xmind/ Little Painter/Word/Open eBook/Arduino IDE/Clips
6. Field interview: interview question design and field interview.
